New minimum wage: Buhari inaugurates committee on implementation

President Muhammadu Buhari has constituted a 24-man Presidential Advisory Committee on the New Minimum Wage on Wednesday in Abuja.

The committee is chaired by renowned economist, Bismarck Rewane while the Director General of the Budget Office, Ben Akabueze is to serve as the secretary.

The committee is mandated to advise the Federal Government on how to successfully implement, identify ways to source for revenue and propose a work plan for the implementation of the new minimum wage.

The committee has a month deadline to submit its report on the new minimum wage.

The President reiterated that he was committed to the upward review of the minimum wage as provision for the new minimum wage has been made in the 2019 appropriation bill.
