The police on Tuesday arraigned four men before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly threatening passer-by with offensive weapons in Lagos.
The men are Agboola Mayowa (28), Jamiu Taufiq Olamilekan (28), Emmanuel Paul (24) and Mustapha Haruna (20). They are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and threat to life and properties.
The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on August 21, 2019 at about 3:10am at No 98, Cemetery Road, Amukoko, Lagos.
“The defendants conspired to unlawfully assemble themselves by threatening passer-by with cutlasses and collecting their properties and money,” Aigbokhan said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
Magistrate Joy Ugbomoiko granted them N50,000 bail with one surety each in like sum.
Each surety is required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the matter till September 25, 2019 for mention.
