63-year-old man in court for stealing N8m car at Tin Can

A 63-year-old man, identified as Anyibinibu Matthew Akankali, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one Toyota Tacoma valued at N8 million at Tin Can Island, Apapa.

Akankali is facing a two-charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The port prosecutor, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometimes in April 2019 at about 12pm at Tin-Can Island, Apapa.

“The defendant conspired with three others at large to steal one Toyota Tacoma valued at N8 million property of Emmanuel Odeh,” Balogun said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate A.S Okubule granted him N200,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till October 14, 2019 for mention.
