Two men namely Umaru Faruq (37) and Stephen Njoku (29), were on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing 14 pieces of television sets, play stations, home theatre and UPS in Lagos.
The duo is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendants committed the offences between May 18, 2019 and July 16, 2019 at about 1am at Reco Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos.
“The defendants conspired to steal 14 television sets valued at N563,194, two play stations valued at N213,175, one home theatre valued at N14,666 and one UPS valued at N11,800 properties of one Chimuchi Investment Limited,” Obongha said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 187(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate K.A Ariyo granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case till September 2, 2019 for mention.
