A 20-year-old man, identified as Jubrin Yahaya, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N65,000 truck battery in Apapa.
Yahaya is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 7, 2019 at First Gate, Tin-Can Island, Apapa.
“The defendant conspired together with one other at large to steal one truck battery valued at N65,000 property of one Ahmed Adamu,” Tedunjaye said.
According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate B.M Amore granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
One of the sureties should be a blood relation to the defendant.
He adjourned the case till February 4, 2019 for mention.
