A truck driver, identified as Adeleke Bolaji was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly committing traffic offences in Apapa.
Bolaji is facing a three-count charge bothering on obstruction, reckless driving and dangerous driving.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Kolade Tedunjaye told the court that the defendant committed the offences on June 25, 2018 at about 9am along Kirikiri Road, Lagos.
“The defendant being the driver in charge of Mack truck with registration number BDG 445 XV drove same on public highway and caused obstruction to other road users,” Tedunjaye said.
The prosecutor added that the defendants also drove in a manner which was careless and inconsiderate, reckless and abandoned the vehicle on the highway without ‘C’ caution.
According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 40, 19, and 18 (1) and 19 (1) of Road Traffic Law 2012.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety. The surety should provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till July 9, 2018 for mention.
