Two persons have been taken into police custody for allegedly supplying petroleum products to bandits in Niger State.
Umar Mohammed, 51, and Adamu Atiku, 35, were paraded on Sunday with 10 kegs allegedly used to store fuel meant for bandits.
While Mohammed was said to be the deliveryman, Atiku, a petrol attendant, reportedly sold the products to him. The police also impounded a tricycle used for transporting the products.
Mohammed confessed that they were caught trying to convey the fuel to Gussassi village in Maikunkele area of Bosso Local Government but he claimed that they sold the products to commercial motorcyclists.
Commissioner of Police in Niger State, Monday Bala Kuryas said the suspects were arrested on a tipoff.
He explained that the amount of fuel they brought flouted the state Executive Order banning the sale of petroleum products in large quantities in jerry cans or other containers at petrol stations.
Kuryas said police were investigating to determine to whom they sold the fuel.
