Police clears Adeyanju, maritime workers President-General of assassination attempt

Adeyanju

After a thorough investigation, the Ports Authority Police Command, Apapa has cleared the President-General, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Adewale Adeyanju of alleged intimidation, conspiracy, threat to lives and attempt to assassinate two dockworkers. The dockworkers are Osho Sunday and Olu Agbabiaka.

SHIPS & PORTS DAILY gathered that Sunday and Agbabiaka, who work at the Lagos Ports Complex (LPC), Apapa alleged that Adeyanju and what they termed his “gang of notorious assassins” threatened to kill them if they refused to support him (Adeyanju) during the union’s election held in March.

In the election held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State; Adeyanju routed his opponent, Comrade Dahiru Talle Abubakar 132 votes to 27, to emerge as MWUN’s fourth President-General.

The complainants further alleged that a brother to one of them, Olu Agbabiaka narrowly escaped death when he was attacked by some hoodlums allegedly sent by Adeyanju.

But the police officer in charge of the case, Inspector Rotimi Agboola told SHIPS & PORTS DAILY that with the collaborative effort of the Area Commander, ACP Presley Dode, the matter was investigated and all the petitions written against Comrade Adeyanju were found to be frivolous.

Inspector Agboola commended Adeyanju for his maturity in the course of the investigation.

He said, “They don’t want him to be the President of the union.”

When contacted, the MWUN President-General said, “I have left everything to the hands of God. The police have done their job and found out that all their allegations were fallacies and that there was no iota of truth in what they were saying.”
