Are you satisfied with the progress made on port road in Apapa?

The truth is that there is a lot of insincerity and unseriousness in the approach to fixing the road, just as its neglect over the years is criminal. Palliatives would have alleviated the sufferings of the users and saved many lives and property. Stakeholders must agree to stay away from the port for one week to enable many contractors face the dilapidated roads at the same time, working 24/7 non-stop. That way, we will get out of it fast.

I have not seen any progress so far, though I know AG Dangote is working in terms of the rehabilitation of the road but they are slow and the slowness according to them is because of the communication cables and the gas pipes that are laid under the ground and they are taking their time to relocate the cables and pipes which is the major delay of the work they are doing on the road. Also, there have been meetings held concerning the issue of the road and I am not comfortable with some of the resolutions made because I think they are mere cosmetics that cannot heal wounds. It is only ointment that can heal wounds, not cosmetic. My reason is that if they say that trucks should maintain a lane, what is the guarantee that this will be resolved? So many trucks are on the road causing so much traffic and this is not the solution, there must be palliative measures that should be put in place.

There is no progress so far.The company fixing it has been there for over a month and still no progress. I will suggest that when the government are truly ready for the commencement, they should start the repair and within few months the road will be perfect and free of gridlock, rather than causing traffic on the road when they are not ready.

I am not satisfied. The road is still nothing to write home about. Even despite the government commencement of the repair, the road is still as it was. The port road is a write-off and a big shame to the Nigerian government. The repair of the road is just once in a month. I don’t think the contract was awarded to the right company to fix the road. The road should be fixed in such a way that trucks will be able to ply the road and there will be no damage. The earlier the road is repaired, the better for us all.

No progress at all on that road.It is taking so much time for government to repair the road that leads to the port. The road is getting worst by the day not to talk of when it is raining heavily, the sight is unimaginable. Anyone who hasn’t been to Apapa in recent times won’t understand. The once popular Apapa in Lagos is a shadow of its former self. Government should be concern about this road just like it is on security and our economy.
