Security officers docked for stealing N23.5m diesel

Two security officers, Godwin Koissi (26) and Shedrack Omale (35) were on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N23,531,040 worth of diesel.

The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen told the court that the defendants committed the offences on March 24, 2019 between 1am and 2:30am at Menj Oil Limited premises, situated at Ijegun Egba Waterside, Satellite Town, Lagos.

“The defendants conspired together with others at large to steal 120,672 litres of diesel valued at N23,531,040 property of Menj Oil Limited being represented by one Umar A. Aliyu, which was kept in their care to secure,” Esebemen said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendants, who are facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing, pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.

Magistrate A.I.O Alaka granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The Magistrate said the sureties must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the matter till April 24, 2019 for mention.
