The Senate on Tuesday passed the bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta, into law.
The senators gave their unanimous voice votes in favour of the bill after Sen. Shola Adeyeye, presented the report on behalf of Sen. Uche Chukwumerije, Chairman, Committee on Education at plenary.
The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremandu who presided, said the development would promote the growth of human capacity in the petroleum industry.
Similarly, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the Senate approved the report of the Conference Committee on National Health Bill 2014.
Ekweremandu said the passage of the bill would no doubt reposition the service delivery in the health sector.
“ With this, the National Health is now made strong enough to cater for the health needs of our people. I therefore congratulate all of us,’’ he said.
However, the report of the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters Cyber Crime Bill 2014 was deferred to another legislative day.
The Equipment Leasing Bill 2014, Nigerian Geological Survey Agency Act 2003 (amendment) Bill and the NDE Act Cap N28 LFN 2011 (amendment) Bill 2014 passed through first reading respectively.
Also the Senate received the audit reports on the Fiscal Allocation and Statutory Disbursement (FASD) Audit 2007- 2011 and Solid Minerals 2011.
The report of the Conference Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution (further amendment) Bill 2014 was also laid at plenary for consideration
