Tinubu sacks 4 NPA, NIMASA Executive Directors, retains two

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday sacked four of the six Executive Directors in Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), and appointed new ones in their place.

The President, however, retained two of the current Executive Directors in the agencies.

NPA and NIMASA, which are both under the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, have three Executive Directors each.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, said in a statement on Thursday that Tinubu made the new appointments as part of efforts to transform the marine and blue economy sector.

At NPA, Tinubu removed Adenrele Susan Adesina as Executive Director, Finance and Administration and replaced her with Vivian Edet. The President also removed Onari Brown as Executive Director, Marine and Operations, and replaced him with Olalekan Badmus; while Ibrahim Abba Umar – a former Personal Assistant to Vice President Kashim Shettima – retained his job as Executive Director, Engineering and Technical Services.

At NIMASA, President Tinubu removed Victor Onyekachi Ochei as Executive Director, Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services, and appointed Jibril Abba as his replacement. He also removed Shehu Ahmed as Executive Director, Operations, replacing him with Fatai Adeyemi. However, Chudi Offodile retained his job as Executive Director, Finance and Administration.

According to Ngelale, the President approved the appointments with the firm belief that the new appointees will expeditiously and efficiently execute their collective mandate to create the conditions required to significantly raise the contribution of the marine and blue economy sector to the nation’s GDP.

He said the President also expects the new appointees to transform the marine and blue economy sector into a labour-intensive and inclusive one that creates new opportunity for all Nigerians in accordance with the Renewed Hope Agenda, under the guidance of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
