A 42-year-old truck driver, identified as Boluwatife Shoneye, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing 157 bags of cement in Apapa.
Shoneye is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Iyobosa Onaiwu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between the months of July 2019 and August 10, 2019 at Comfort Oboh Street, Ajegunle, Apapa.
“The defendant stole 157 bags of cement valued at N392,000, two truck batteries valued at N58,000 and one truck tyre valued at N67,000. Total value of items stolen N517,000 property of Ifytex Global Resources,” Onaiwu said.
According to her, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Magistrate Tolani Shekoni-Adeyekun granted him N150,000 with two responsible sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case till August 26, 2019 for mention.
