Man docked for selling unapproved tickets to motorcyclists in Apapa

A 40-year-old man, Joseph Okolie, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly selling unapproved tickets to motorcyclists in Apapa.

Okolie is facing a two-count charge of breach of peace and assault.

The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on August 13, 2019 at about 8:30am at Orodu Street, Ajegunle, Apapa.

“The defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by unlawfully selling tickets to motorcyclists and assaulted one Rauf Olaiya by pushing him,” Ekpo said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 168(d) and 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

Magistrate Adegboyega Popoola granted him N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

The surety is required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the matter till August 29, 2019 for mention.
