Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port
A 37-year-old truck driver, identified as Ernest Simon was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly causing breach of peace and stealing goods worth N130,000.

Simon is facing a two-count charge bordering on breach of peace and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Iyabosa Onaiwu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on August 15, 2018 at about 7am at Berger Cement Bus Stop, Olodi-Apapa.

“The defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by using company’s vehicle, Mack Truck with registration number AGL 345 AL, to carry goods without the consent of the company,” Onaiwu said.

The prosecutor added that the defendant stole and converted the sum of N130,000 for his personal use, property of Eagle Haulage Nigeria Limited.

According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 166 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate O.S Abioye granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with evidence of two years’ tax payment.

He adjourned the matter till September 10, 2018 for mention.
