A 40-year-old truck driver, Adebayo Olusegun, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N200,000 in Apapa.
Olusegun is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 16, 2020 at about 9:30pm at Liverpool Road, Under bridge, Apapa.
“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal the cash sum of N200,000 property of one Uzochukwu Emeka” Ekpo said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate Taiwo Popoola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of two years tax payment to Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned till April 2, 2020 for mention.
