Truck driver in court for theft

Fake travel agent docked for N265,000 visa fraud

A 45-year-old truck driver, Sylvester Uwabor, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing cream valued at N400,000 in Apapa.

Uwabor is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 31, 2019 at about 9:30pm at Liverpool Road, Under bridge, Apapa.

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal four cartons of Stay Young Cream valued at N400,000 property of one Uzochukwu Edmond Ifechukwu,” Ekpo said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate Taiwo Popoola granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of two years tax payment to Lagos State Government.

The case was adjourned till January 14, 2020 for mention.
