A 35-year-old boat captain, Ade Oriyomi, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly moving one tug boat named MV Woyin at KLT, Apapa wthout authorization.
Oriyomi is facing a one-count charge of illegal transit.
The port prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 13, 2019 at about 6pm at KLT, Apapa.
“The defendant moved one tug boat named MV Woyin which was leased to one Mr Vincent Uti of No 52, Emily Avenue, Ikorodu by his company named Jinanso Marine Nigeria Limited from Itokin to Brawal Jetty in Apapa phase 1 without the consent of Mr Vincent Uti,” Esebamen said.
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 212 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.
Magistrate Enitan Ojodun granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two reliable sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of three years tax payment to Lagos State Government. One of the sureties must be a blood relative to the defendant.
He adjourned the case till September 17, 2019 for mention.
