The police on Friday arraigned two men, Mike Amaefuna (55) and Chigozie Edeh (26), before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly forging the trademark of Nigerian automobile dealer, Cosharis, in Lagos.
The duo is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, forgery and adulteration.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Inedu, told the court that the defendants committed the offences sometimes in March 2019 at N48, Akuberu Road, Sabo Ojo, Lagos.
“The defendants conspired with one Chukwudi Ikwuka at large to forge Cosharis trademark and bar code number 7-90920111107 and also adulterated Cosharis ABRO PVC electrical tape number 7-90920111107,” Inedu said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 365 and 160(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate Temitope Babalola granted them N100,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till September 30, 2019 for mention.
