Two men, identified as Azeez Faruk (22) and Opeyemi Mudashiru (23) were on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting two clearing agents and robbing a female exporter of her valuables in Apapa.
Faruk and Mudashiru are facing a six-count charge bothering on conspiracy, breach of peace, stealing and assault.
The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan told the court that the defendants committed the offences on May 20, 2018 at about 5:30am at Iyana-Ajegunle Bus Stop, Amukoko, Apapa.
Aigbokhan said, “The defendants conspired together to act in a disorderly manner as to disturb the peace of the neighbourbood of Iyana-Ajegunle.
“The defendants stole a phone valued N65,000 and a woman hand bag containing N50,000 property of one Abiba Ganiyu.
“They also stole two phones valued N122,000 and wrist watch valued N24,000 property of one clearing agent, Matthew Daniel.”
The prosecutor added that the clearing agent and his business partner, Abiodun Ganiyu were both assaulted by the defendants by using cutlass to matchete Daniel’s left hand side of his eye and cause him bodily harm while they used bottle to stab Ganiyu on his hand which caused him bodily harm.
According to him, the offences are punishable under section 411, 45, 287 and 173 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not
Magistrate Joy Ugbomoiko granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each. The surety must be resident in Lagos with proof and furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
