Two men charged for stealing N72m goods 

15 Nigerians arrested in Malaysia for fraud 

Two men namely, Ikechukwu Gerald Izunna (27) and Ezuike Obinna (24), were on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing N72 million worth of goods from an importer in Lagos.

The duo is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen items.

The prosecutor, Superintendent Police Gabriel Ekundayo, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on July 9, 2019 at about 10am at Ideal Standard Company, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.

“The defendant (Izunna) conspired with others at large to steal water heaters, water faucets (mixers), shower panels, pressing showers, water closets (mini-sets), T-taps and standing showers. All valued at N72 million property of one Emmanuel Obiukwu,” Ekundayo said.

The prosecutor also said that the second defendant (Obinna) conspired with others at large to receive those goods, which he knew to have been stolen.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 287 and 328 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.

Chief Magistrate Mukaila Fadeyi granted them N3m bail with two sureties each in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with statement of account and evidence of five years tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till August 1, 2019 for mention.
