What are your expectations of Nigeria’s new service chiefs?

I hope the new service chiefs will brace up to the challenges of our nation especially at this time because a huge sense of commitment, responsibility and determination to secure our nation and restore peace and order is very important now than ever. They need to take urgent steps to restore professionalism, boost the morale of our troops and out do their predecessors. The new commanders must note that Nigerians are looking up to them as professionals to remove terrorists, bandits and other outlaws ravaging our nation from our landscape.

 

 

 

 

The appointment of the new service chiefs is a welcome development and I hope they will perform better than their predecessors. My advice to the new service chiefs is to study the concern of Nigerians over the deteriorating condition of security in the country and do their best to tackle the problem so that citizens of Nigeria will see the changes they have brought into the situation for the better. Hopefully, we would start seeing significant changes in the fight against insurgency, banditry and general insecurity in the country.

 

 

 

 

 

 

My hope is that these changes will bring about the much desired success and change of tides in the ongoing war against banditry and insurgency. They should re-organize their various services, post people who are capable of strategic appointments that will assist to achieve the desired objective of defeating the bandits and insurgents as well as securing the nation. That should be their priorities

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is long overdue and I am hoping that they would discharge their duties and responsibilities professionally, without biases and tendencies in the best interest of the country. They need to tackle issues of banditry, kidnapping, and the menace of the armed herdsmen ravaging communities. Also, I want to urge the government to ensure that funds are made readily available for the provision of necessary tools in the discharge of their duties because there is a lot of work for them to do and the earlier they get at it, the better.

 

 

 

 

 

I want to urge the new service chiefs to do their best to change the ugly security situation in the country. My advice to them is to consider the plight of the nation over the security challenges at the moment in their new postings. I hope that they will do their best to change the situation for the better and I hope that they will bring innovation to improve the security situation in the country.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our expectations as Nigerians are very high concerning security at this time and so the service chiefs must do something different and urgently too for their appointment to be considered well deserved. I believe they are familiar with the yearnings and frustrations of Nigerians as far as the security situation in the country is concerned and therefore should know what the expectations of the people are.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The sudden surge of insecurity in Nigeria has become very alarming. The new service chiefs will have to re-evaluate in order to come out with new ideas to strengthen national security and find a lasting solution to the impunity and barbarism of the Fulani herdsmen and insurgency going on in the country.

 

 

 

 

 

The only way the new service chiefs can retain the confidence of Nigerians is to improve on the records of their predecessors. They have to focus on improving professional standards and morale of troops as well as fighting corruption within the armed forces. It is important for the service chiefs to lead a military with high standards of respect for rules of engagement.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I will urge them to reposition the security architecture of the country. They have to initiate radical changes by coming up with new ideas on the strategies of combating insurgency. The new service chiefs should take a cue from the mistakes of their predecessors as they confront the security challenges in the country.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

They need to put in their best by adopting new military approaches and innovations to tackle the insurgency and other armed criminality in the country. With the security situation in the country right now, I do expect them to outperform their predecessors and ultimately leave a positive mark in the minds of Nigerians.

 

 

 

 

 

The new service chiefs should review the strategies of their predecessors and give prompt backup to the police in preventing kidnapping, banditry, terrorism and all forms of insecurity issues. They should be more professional by insisting that the military is completely separated from politics. The new service chiefs should also seek to restore the declining glory of our armed forces. For the Naval head, there is the urgent need to stop the rising cases of piracy, oil thefts and illegal bunkering on Nigerian waters. Collaboration between the air force and navy should be strengthened while aerial patrol of our maritime domain for interdiction, reconnaissance, interception and arrests of persons and vessels perpetuating unlawful activities on our waters should be sustained.

 

 

 

The new service chiefs will be a lot more effective if they are inspired by a Commander-In-Chief who adopts an involved and active interest in their conduct, records and performances. The new service chiefs have been part of the military that has been severely challenged in the fight against a decade-old insurgency and many other threats. The only way they can retain the confidence of Nigerians is to substantially improve on the records of their predecessors.
