A 38-year-old man, Lucky Osakwe has been dragged before the temple of justice for stabbing one Olu Agbabiaka, a Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) leader with a jack knife on the right side of his neck.
The case, which started at Apapa Magistrate Court on the 15th of February 2016, has now been transferred to Kirikiri Magistrate Court for trial.
Osakwe was arraigned on three-count offence of stabbing, falsehood and entering the port without Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) pass.
The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen told the court that the defendant committed the offence on December 9, 2015.
He said that the incident occurred at about 10:30pm at Apapa Port where the defendant gained access into the port without NPA pass and disguising as a dockworker.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 243 (1), 378 and 398 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2011. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr. G.L Hotepo told the defendant that he has the right to change his plea but the defendant maintained that the not guilty plea.
The Magistrate asked the nominal complainant, Agbabiaka if he would like to forgive the defendant but he told the court with a stern face that he would not forgive him.
The Magistrate adjourned to January 27, 2017 for trial.
