Two men, Sunday Okechukwu (35) and Izuchukwu Chukwu (32) were on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing diesel worth N72,000 at Apapa.
Okechukwu and Chukwu are facing a two-count charge bothering on conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on July 1, 2018 at about 9pm at Coconut Bus Stop, Olodi-Apapa.
“The defendants conspired together to steal 400 litres of diesel valued at N72,000 property of one Samuel Ejiofor,” Aigbokhan said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate Joy Ugbomoiko granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum.
The surety, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case till August 27, 2018 for mention.
