A 32-year-old truck manager, Richard Ajie, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing an empty container at Tin Can Island, Lagos.
Ajie is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Feddy Asu, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometimes in the month of September 2018 at Tin-Can Island, Apapa.
“The defendant conspired together with others at large to steal one CMA empty container No TEMU 6558042 value yet unknown property of one Alhaja Salewa Olawale,” Asu said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287(5)(6) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
Magistrate M.O Olubi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The Magistrate said the sureties must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
One of the sureties must also be a blood relation to the defendant.
He adjourned the matter till January 14, 2019 for mention.
