The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), has said that it will put up a position paper to the Federal Ministry of Finance on the need for customs agents to renew their licenses once in three years.
National Publicity Secretary of the Association, Kayode Farinto, who stated this recently in Lagos noted that licensed customs agents pay the highest amount in renewing their licenses annually than other profession, which according to him was robbing off on the agents.
“The oil industry is using N10,000 to renew their licenses on a yearly basis, why should we be using N215,000? Don’t forget I am not the President; I am going to sell the idea to the President to put up a position paper to the Federal Ministry of Finance because Customs is under Finance.
“We need to make the renewal of our license three years, so that if we are paying N215,000 as renewal that means in the next three years we are not going to pay any money and the license will be valid for those periods,” he said.
