Apapa court remands truck driver for indecent conduct

An Apapa Magistrate’s Court sitting in Lagos on Thursday remanded a truck driver, Ofugoche Isah (29), for conducting himself in an indecent manner with a four-year-old girl.

Isah is facing a two-count charge of indecent manner and assault. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Inspector Augustine Ejembe, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on February 18, 2020 at about 8pm at No 5, Lawani Street, Olodi-Apapa.

“The defendant unlawfully conducted himself in an indecent manner with a four-year-old girl, likely to cause breach of public peace.

“The defendant unlawfully inflicted human bite on the lower lips of one Inalegwu Abel which caused him grievous harm,” Ejembe said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 168 (1)(d) and 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate F.J Adefioye remanded the defendant in prison custody and adjourned the case till March 2, 2020 for trial.
