A clearing agent residing at Sheka quarters in Kumbotso local government area of has been remanded in prison custody over allegations of breach of trust and cheating.
The accused, Ahmad Sahanu, was arraigned before a Senior Magistrate court 46 for two-count charge of breach of trust and cheating, offenses contrary to sections 312 and 322 of Penal Code Law.
The case was reported to the police by one Muntari Shehu on behalf of his sister Maryam Usaini who is currently in Saudi Arabia.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant told police that his sister entrusted the accused person’s brother Usman Sahanu, a clearing agent and gave him 12 bundles of second hand clothes for onward transportation to Nigeria from Saudi Arabia.
The FIR stated that when Usman sent the goods to Nigeria through the accused person, it was discovered that five of the 12 bundles each valued at N350, 000 were missing.
When the Police Prosecutor, ASP Sanusi Muhammad read the charges to the accused, he pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of breach of trust and cheating.
The presiding judge, Senior Magistrate Huda H. Abdu ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to 27th February, 2017 for further hearing.
