Container falls off truck, blocks road in Apapa port

A 40ft container fell off the truck conveying it and blocked the common user road at the Lagos Port Complex, Apapa.

The driver of the truck moving the container out of the port reportedly lost control when he drove over the median on the common user road.

The fully laden container was severely dented after falling off the truck.

An eyewitness, who spoke with SHIPS & PORTS on the accident, blamed the accident on the truck driver’s poor manoeuvring skills.

The eye witness asked the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to rehabilitate the common user road in the port to reduce the rate of truck accident.

“He tried to be careful but still climbed the strip, leading to the accident. That was how it happened last week Friday. NPA should try and reconstruct this road. This strip (the road median) should not be there because it is not giving enough way to the trucks,” he said.
