An Apapa Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday slammed one-month imprisonment to two men who pleaded guilty to stealing Dangote crude salt.
Magistrate, O.M Ajayi said the one-month imprisonment for the accused, Anselm Osarogbo and Agbaje Sikiru would run concurrently for the three-count charge.
Meanwhile, the court adjourned the case for the third defendant, Samuel Ogu who pleaded not guilty till September 24, 2018 for trial.
It would be recalled that three men, Anselm Osarogbo, Agbaje Sikiru and Samuel Ogu were docked for allegedly stealing crude salt worth N100,000 belonging to Dangote Group of Company.
The port prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen told the court that the defendants committed the offence on October 20, 2017 at about 11:05am at Wharf Road, Apapa.
Esebamen said, “The defendants conspired together to steal 10 bags of crude salt valued N100,000 property of Dangote Group of Companies.”
The prosecutor added that the defendants willfully and unlawfully damaged 26 metric tons of crude salt valued at N1.7 million property of Dangote Group.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 287 and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
