Man docked for burglary, stealing gold chain

A 27-year-old man, Raji Musibau, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly breaking into an apartment and stealing gold chain, Plasma TV and others at Ajegunle, Apapa.

Musibau is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Inspector Julius Babatope, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 2020 in Evis Street, Ajegunle, Apapa.

“The defendant conspired together with others at large to break into an apartment and steal gold chain, Plasma TV, clothes, jewelries and cash sum of money valued at N460,000 properties of one Tope Babalola and one Oyindamola Aremu,” Babatope said.

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 307 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

Magistrate R.E Ojudun granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of three years tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till March 18, 2020 for mention.
