Man docked for stealing N76,000 phone

India arrests Nigerian, four others with 120g of drug

 

A 27-year-old man, identified as Emmanuel Kelechukwu, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing one phone worth N76,000 in Lagos.

Kelechukwu is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 11, 2019 at about 1am at Midland Estate, Amuwo-Odofin, Festac Town, Lagos.

“The defendant stole one Geomic SII Light phone valued at N76,000 property of one Emmanuel Nnadi,” Bassey said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.

Magistrate Iyabo Ayilara granted him N30,000 bail with one surety in like sum.

The surety is required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till September 19, 2019 for mention.
