Police arraign driver for abandoning truck

Fake travel agent docked for N265,000 visa fraud

A 36-year-old truck driver, Etteka Gabriel, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly abandoning the truck along Apapa/Mile 2 Expressway.

Gabriel is facing a one-count charge of breach ofpeace.

The prosecutor, Inspector Iyobosa Onaiwu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 28, 2019 at about 8pm along Apapa/Mile 2 Expressway, Olodi-Apapa.

“The defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by abandoning Mack Truck with registration number EKY 11 XN owned by one Chief Julius Alagbu after he had an accident with it and ran away to unknown destination,” Onaiwu said.

According to her, the offence is punishable under section 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate O.S Abioye granted him N100,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.

The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of two years tax payment to Lagos State Government.

He adjourned the case till September 26, 2019 for mention.
