A 20-year-old man, Ndubisi Nwafor, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stabbing a car dealer and stealing a phone valued at N50,000.
Nwafor is facing a two-count charge of assault and stealing.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olugbenga Salami, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 24, 2019 at about 7am at Maza-Maza Bus Stop, Apapa.
“The defendant assaulted one Friday Michael by using broken bottle to stab him on his body which caused him bodily harm,” Salami said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendant stole one Tecno camera phone valued at N50,000 property of one Friday Michael.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 173 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Magistrate Rasheedat Williams-Isichei granted him N60,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the matter till August 1, 2019 for mention.
