The police on Friday arraign two men before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing bobcat equipment in Apapa.
The duo, Olarenwaju Benson (45) and Lawal Wale (41), is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. Both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Inspector Marvellous Obongha, told the court that the defendants committed the offences sometime in January 2020 at Total Filling Station, Olodi-Apapa.
“The defendants conspired together with one other at large to steal the following items from bobcat; control power valued at N150,000, one engine fuse valued at N50,000 and one handle nut valued at N150,000. Total value N350,000 property of one Barnabas Igweh,” Obongha said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate Aisha Shittabey granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties are required to be gainfully employed and furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government. One of the sureties must be a family member.
She adjourned the matter till March 31, 2020 for mention.
