Three men were on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a container load of GOtv decoders worth N40 million in Apapa.
The men are Emmanuel Nnoduo (53), Samuel Nwosu (36) and Okeke Onyeka (37). They are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen items.
The port prosecutor, Sergeant Adeniyi Balogun, told the court that the defendants committed the offences sometimes in September 2019 at Tin Can Terminal, Apapa.
“The defendants conspired with others at large to steal a container load of 3,600 pieces of GOtv decoders in 720 cartons valued at N40 million properties of Protus Global Logistics Limited.
“On September 4, 2019 Nwosu and Onyeka received a truck load of 720 cartons of GOtv decoders, properties of Protus Global Logistics Limited, knowing same to have been stolen,” Balogun said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 287 and 328 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
Magistrate Adenike Alaka granted them N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties are required to be gainfully employed and furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case till November 7, 2019 for mention.
