There was pandemonium in Apapa on Tuesday afternoon as a police officer attached to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SAR) allegedly shot and killed a truck driver.
The F-SAR team, which was on a routine patrol of the Tin Can-Coconut axis in Apapa, reportedly ran into a group of hoodlums, resulting in an unanticipated clash.
During the clash with the hoodlums, who were said to be under the influence of hard drugs, one of the policemen fired gunshots into the air, but a stray bullet reportedly hit the truck driver nearby, killing him instantly.
The Public Relations Officer of Lagos State Police Command, CSP Chike Oti, confirmed the incident.
He said the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, had ordered an investigation into the incident.
