The PTML area command of the Nigeria Customs Service says it collected the sum of N9.9billion revenue in January, up from N6.3billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2017, showing an increase of N3.034billion.
Public Relations Officers of the command, Yakubu Mohammed in a statement attributed the increase to new approach adopted by the Controller of the command, Comptroller Modupeola Aremu to ensure full compliance by stakeholders at the command.
Comptroller Aremu reiterated the command’s resolve to ensure the implementation of the federal government policy on 24 hour port operations to attract more investors to the port while ensuring all revenue loopholes are blocked.
Aremu warned that any clearing agent and their importers found deliberately frustrating the command’s effort would not only be arrested but exposed to the public.
According to her, “The Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali led administration mandate is to make PTML command approachable and business friendly in order to attract more investors.”
The Controller also commended the efforts of the officers for efficient delivery of their key roles without compromising their duties for corruption adding that through the encouragement from the management, the officers have been motivated to do more.
