Tanker driver docked for stealing jet oil worth N9.9m

Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port

A 45-year-old tanker driver identified as Saidu Ibrahim was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 45,000 litres of jet oil value N9.9 million at Apapa.

Ibrahim is facing a two-count charge bothering on conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Ogbona told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 10, 2018 at about 11am at Apapa.

“The defendant stole 45,000 litres of jet oil value N9.9 million property of one Mohammed Gujibau,” he said.

According to him, the offences contravene Section 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

Ibrahim however pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.

Magistrate Adenike Alaka granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two responsible sureties.

The sureties, she said, must furnish the court with evidence of three years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till May 3, 2018 for mention.
