An Apapa Magistrates’ Court presided over by Magistrate O.S Abioye has sentenced 56-year-old Odekun Adeleye to two weeks community service within the court premises.

Adeleye, who was sentenced on Tuesday, had on Monday pleaded guilty to stealing electric cable belonging to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) at Tin Can Island Port, Apapa, Lagos.

He was charged before the Court on a two-count charge of trespass and stealing.

The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 25, 2018 at about 5am at Marketing Hall, Tin Can Island Port, Apapa.

According to him, the accused trespassed into NPA premises and was found in possession of a roll of electric cable valued at N100,000 suspected to have been stolen.

Esebamen said when an NPA security officer accosted Adeleye, the accused was unable to give account of the cable in his possession.
