A truck driver’s lover identified as Fali Aderinto (23) was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly cutting off her neighbour’s left ear with her teeth.
The prosecutor, Inspector Donjor Perezi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 25, 2019 at about 8:20pm at Odofin/Alayabiagba Junction, Ajegunle, Apapa.
“The defendant challenged one Rukaya Lawal in a fight to a duel. She assaulted Lawal by giving her slaps on her face and inflicting injuries on her neck that caused her bodily harm,” Perezi said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendant bit off Lawal’s left ear, causing her grievous harm.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 55, 172, 173 and 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Magistrate O.A Erinle granted the defendant bail in the sum of N10,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with six months bank statements and proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case till May 20, 2019 for mention.
