A 20-year-old man, identified as Tairu Abubakar, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stabbing two security guards with dangerous weapons in Apapa.
The prosecutor, Inspector Donjor Perezi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 22, 2019 at about 11:45pm at Gangare Area, Ijora-Badia, Apapa.
“The defendant conspired together with others at large to assault one Sarafadeen Wahab and Ibrahim Adisa by stabbing them with dagger on their head and chest,” Perezi said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendant had in his possession dangerous weapons such as axe, dagger, and cutlass with a view to attacking members of the public.
Perezi added that the defendant managed unlawful society by committing act of violence as well as disturbing and encouraging disturbance of peace.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 412, 173, 329(b) and 56(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Magistrate O.A Erinle granted the defendant bail in the sum of N150,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government. One of the sureties must be a blood relative to the defendant.
She adjourned the case till May 21, 2019 for mention.
