Two men, Adeyemo Ebenezer (27) and Ishola Adewale (37) were on Wednesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing one motorcycle belonging to a police officer in Apapa.
Ebenezer and Adewale are facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, breach of peace and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Iyabosa Onaiwu, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on September 22, 2018 at about 11:43am at No 170, Muyibi Street, Olodi-Apapa.
“The defendants conspired with others at large to conduct themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by acting in a disorderly manner as to disturb the peace of the entire area,” Onaiwu said.
The prosecutor also said that the defendants stole the sum of N27,500 and one Bajaj Motorcycle valued at N150,000, properties of one Sergeant Adotse Ogbu.
According to her, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 168 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
Upon the not guilty plea by the defendants, Magistrate O. S Abioye, granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 with one responsible surety each in like sum.
The surety, according to the Magistrate, must furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till October 29, 2018 for mention.
