The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has urged the people of the Niger Delta region to vote massively for him, saying he will renovate all seaports and complete all projects abandoned by the Federal Government in the region.
He made the call on Thursday while addressing a crowd of PDP supporters, who thronged the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, venue of the PDP presidential campaign rally.
The former vice president thanked Delta State for remaining with the PDP since 1999, noting that every development in Delta State has been PDP.
“So why vote another party that has not done anything for you? I will renovate all the seaports in Delta State. I will also complete all abandoned infrastructure projects by the Federal Government because you are opposition state. I promise I will deliver on these promises,” he said.
Also speaking, PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus, asked the people of the state to vote PDP enmasse in the coming elections.
“Go out to vote and let your votes count; stand by your votes and change a man who is embarrassing Nigeria. He went to Germany and addressed the country as Western Germany; he was in Warri recently and addressed the governorship candidate as presidential candidate,” Secondus said.
On his part, the PDP vice presidential candidate, Peter Obi reiterated that all development projects in Delta state since 1999 was done by the PDP, adding that the APC does not like the South South and cannot show anything they have done in the region.
The Senate President and Director General of the PDP presidential campaign council, Senator Bukola Saraki urged Delta indigenes to come out to vote to change the prevailing situation in the country.
“The current administration has failed and the PDP has chosen Atiku to make Nigeria work again. With Atiku, job creation will be optimal and the debilitating unemployment among the youth will be addressed, beside ensuring that the county is governed by rule of law,” Saraki said.
