A 35-year-old man, Lukmon Elemosho, was on Monday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly assaulting two passengers over collection of N100 levy from the driver in Apapa.
Elemosho is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and assault occasioning harm. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Inspector Paul Ugorji, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 31, 2019 at about 8pm at Mission Street, Amukoko, Apapa.
“The defendant conspired together with one other at large to commit felony to wit assault occasioning harm. He unlawfully assaulted one Aminat Yusuf and Rahimat Yusuf by beating them with fist blow and inflicted injury on them,” Ugorji said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate L.O Kazeem granted him N50,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till January 22, 2020 for mention.
