Man docked for damaging truck windscreen in Apapa

A 21-year-old man, identified as Alayo Moses Ogojuwon, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly damaging the windscreen of a Mack truck in Apapa.

Ogojuwon is facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, threatening violence, breach of peace and willful damage. 

The prosecutor, Inspector Augustine Ejembi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on August 1, 2019 at about 7pm at Otun/Magbesa, Kirikiri Town, Apapa. 

“The defendant conspired with others at large in threatening violence to one Joseph Akpo with cutlass and broken bottle. He also armed himself with offensive weapons in such a manner to cause terror to members of the public,” Ejembi said. 

He said the Mack truck with registration number BDG 543 belongs to one Augustine Odigbo. 

According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 411, 56(1)(a), 51 and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Ayisha Grillo granted him N100,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum. 

The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government. 

She adjourned the case till August 20, 2019 for mention.
