A 25-year-old man, identified as Ifeanyi Okoye, was on Thursday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing two truck batteries valued at N75,000 in Apapa.
Okoye is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Inedu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 16, 2019 at about 4pm along Wharf Road, Apapa.
“The defendant stole two batteries of Mack truck valued at the sum of N75,000 and cash of N43,000. Total valued at N118,000 property of one Obinna Oguh,” Inedu said.
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 287 (9)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.
Magistrate Temitope Babalola granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety.
The surety is required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case till July 31, 2019 for mention.
