Truck driver in court for stealing N140,000

 

India arrests another Nigerian for hard drugs

 

A 31-year-old truck driver, Nwachukwu Obinna, was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N140,000 along Ago Palace Way.

Obinna is facing a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on October 13, 2019 at about 10am along Ago Palace Way, Amuwo-Odofin.

“The defendant stole the sum of N140,000 property of one Nonyelu Nora,” Aigbokhan said.

According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State. The defendant pleaded not guilty. 

Magistrate O.A Olorunfemi granted him N50,000 bail with one responsible surety in like sum. The surety is required to furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.

The Magistrate adjourned the case till December 16, 2019 for mention.
