Court remands two truck drivers for assaulting police inspector 

Four docked for stealing items worth N.7m at Apapa port

An Apapa Magistrates’ Court has remanded two truck drivers for allegedly assaulting an inspector of police while performing his lawful duty in Apapa.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Marvellous Ogbonna told the court that the accused, identified as Suraju Ibrahim , 28 and Muhammed Abdulmumini, 25 committed the offence on Wednesday at about 8:30amat Gaskiya College Road, Ijora-Badia, Apapa.

Ogbonna said they assaulted one Inspector James Omotayo attached to Ijora-Badia Police Station who was performing his lawful duty.

According to him, the offence contravened Sections 412 and 174 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the two-count charges against them.

The Magistrate, Mrs Adenike Alaka adjourned the case till December 14, 2017.
