A 40-year-old security officer identified as Paul Nnamdi was on Friday arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing 50 litres of diesel in Apapa.
Nnmadi is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Friday Inedu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 27, 2019 at about 4:30am at Menj Oil Limited premises, Ijora-Badia, Apapa.
“The defendant stole 50 litres of diesel valued at N12,000 property of Friday Akpan,” Inedu said.
According to him, the offence is punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
Magistrate Temitope Babalola granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
The sureties are required to be gainfully employed and furnish the court with proof of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the matter till August 30, 2019 for mention.
